Dear Cochin Port Family,

Wish you all a very happy and promising new year 2024.

As we embark into 2024, let us take a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished and what need to be explored to take our port into steady growth trajectory.

While we had handled the highest ever cargo of 35.255 Million Tonnes in 2022-23, we are on track to improve on that figure in the current year 2023-34 also with an impressive operational performance. Our port has also taken up important turn key projects for Goa port Authority, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Entrusting of such prestigious projects reflects on the ability of our infrastructure team.

Apart from the growth in cargo we are also seeing a revival of cruise business in the current year with the rising trend of cruise business with the regular calling of two domestic cruise ships and international cruises. Thanks to the Sagarika Cruise Terminal, we were able to handle upto three cruise ships on a single day in December 2023.

The year 2023 has been a year of excellent industrial relations in the port with all the stakeholders working towards an uninterrupted operational efficiency of the port.

These accomplishments could be possible only with the dedicated and coordinated efforts of our entire port team.

Over the years, our ease of doing business initiatives, digitalized business processes, strategic tariff interventions and trade friendly disposition have helped us attract and retain our business associates leading to sustained growth in our business.

The new-year heralds greener opportunities in true sense with Cochin Port aiming at promoting green hydrogen business. Along with this, we may also promote LNG bunkering and gassing up-cooling down business of LNG. Coupled with the facility of MULT/LPG jetty, Puthuvypeen should emerge as an energy port. Shore power supply to the vessels while at berth is another project which will help in reducing emissions and improving air quality. Let us all work towards these green initiatives relentlessly to make Cochin Port an iconic green port in peninsular India.

To enhance Cochin Port’s stature as a maritime hub, we have to formulate strategies to attract the shipping lines and investors/promotorsfor providing all types of shipping services in view of our strategic location.

The shared responsibility of CoPA with UTLA in developing the state-of-art maritime infrastructure in UTLA islands requires meticulous planning and coordination by all concerned to ensure compliance to the commitments of CoPA.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the unflinching contribution of each member of the Cochin Port family, Leaders of unions/associations and all the stakeholders of the port for their significant contribution in the standing of our port over the years and count on their continued support to maintain that growth in the new year 2024

As we bid farewell to another amazing year, I hope you continue to succeed and work together to accomplish great things. The new year comes with greater challenges and I am confident the involved support and devotional sincerity of each member of Cochin Port family and the stakeholdersof  Cochin Port will help us to flourish as we work together to have a successful year again.

Wishing each member of the Cochin Port family and the trade fraternity a very happy and rewarding New Year 2024.
