The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, is all set to organise the Maritime India Summit - 2021 (MIS 2021) from 2nd to 4th March 2021. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the summit on 2nd March 2021 at 11.00 hrs, in virtual mode.    The event, which comprises a 3-day Summit and Exhibition, is expected to witness participation from 40 countries and will be attended by various stakeholders in the maritime sector including senior and eminent policy planners, domestic and international investors, CEOs of Indian and global maritime companies, industry experts, thought leaders, technology providers, bankers and insurers, representatives of major ports and shipping lines from across the world.  The Summit shall cover 5 Plenary Sessions with Break-out Sessions viz. (1) Developing World Class Ports (Break Out Session: Manpower Development- Skilling in Maritime Sector- Seafarers); (2) Shipbuilding, Ship Recycling, Ship Repair (Break Out Session: Shipping- Latest Trends, Future post Pandemic) (3) Coastal Shipping, Hinterland Connectivity and Multi-modal logistics hub (Break Out Session: Opportunities in Maritime Financing and Insurance); (4) Water Transport - Promoting Cargo and Passenger Movement, Opportunity for Sea Planes (Break Out Session: Bulk Cargo Transportation: Focus on liquid Cargo); and (5) Port-linked Industrialization – Building Port Cities and Maritime Clusters (Break Out Session: Technology Innovations: Focus on Green Technology).  Cochin Port will be signing 27 MoUs worth around Rs. 3,300 crore during the 2nd edition of Maritime India Summit 2021. These MoUs will be majorly signed between Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT); Kottayam Port & ICD Services; BPCL; IOCL; IGTPL etc. The MoUs will be signed in the areas like dredging for maintenance of channels and basins, coastal connectivity, cargo handling, tourism related projects, aviation fuel terminal, deepening and widening of port channels, etc.

          The Virtual Exhibition along with exclusive demo sessions to be held on all two days of the event will showcase the latest technology, products and services as well as help disseminate knowledge about the latest developments in the maritime sector.  It will also provide a platform to interact closely with leading global maritime organizations to explore business opportunities and create awareness amongst participants about the latest technology trends across the maritime spectrum and provide a platform for the partner countries to showcase their sector strengths.
