Cochin Port Clinches Double Victory at All India Major Ports Volleyball & Beach Volleyball Championships 2024–25
The All India Major Ports Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Championships 2024-25 was held at Cochin Port in Willingdon Island. About 120 players representing nine Major Ports from across the country viz. Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Goa (Mormugao), Mangalore, Paradip, Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam, and Cochin participated in the tournament.
The championship was formally inaugurated by Shri B. Kasiviswanathan, IRSME, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA). The inaugural function was graced by the presence of Shri T. Prabhu, IOFS, Chief Vigilance Officer-CoPA, Shri Vipin R. Menoth, Traffic Manager-CoPA & President-Cochin Port Sports Control Board, along with other Heads of Departments of Cochin Port Authority.
The Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) teams emerged triumphant at the All India Major Ports Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Championships 2024–25, by retaining both titles with commanding performances.
In the Volleyball Championship, Cochin Port successfully defended their crown by defeating Mumbai Port in straight sets (25-15, 26-24, 25-16). VOC Port (Tuticorin) secured the third position.
Individual honours in the Volleyball category were awarded as follows:
Best All-rounder : Abhishek (Cochin Port)
Best Attacker : Jerry (Tuticorin Port)
Best Blocker : Ansar V.K. (Cochin Port)
Best Setter : Paul Joseph (Cochin Port)
Best Libero : Deepak (Mumbai Port)
In the Beach Volleyball Championship, Cochin Port retained the title by defeating Paradip Port in a thrilling finale.
Best Beach Volleyball Player : Fasil (Cochin Port)
The valedictory function was graced by Shri B. Kasiviswanathan, IRSME, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority, who presented trophies to the winners. Also present were Shri T. Prabhu, IOFS, Chief Vigilance Officer-CoPA; Shri Vipin R. Menoth, Traffic Manager-CoPA & President, Cochin Port Sports Control Board; Smt. C. Premakumari, Secretary-CoPA; Capt. T. Muthukumar, Dy. Conservator-CoPA; Col. Jassar S.M., Chief Engineer-CoPA; and Shri P.K. Misra, Assistant Commandant, CISF (CoPA Unit), along with other senior officials.
