Area Level Pollution Response Exercise 2025 was organised by CoPA today with the participation of representatives from oil companies, State Pollution Control Board, minor ports, IWAI, KSINC, tank farms and Indian Coast Guard (as observers).

The exercise was carried out in three sessions comprising an introductory session at conference hall, a live demo of pollution control equipment at Cochin Port Fire Station and a pollution response mock drill at Quay 4. Participation certificates were issued.

Also, a pollution response mock drill was held at Quay 4 of Mattanchery Wharf. Representatives from major oil companies, tank farms, Pollution Control Board, Indian Coast Guard etc took part. The scenario was an oil leak from a Q4-berthed tanker. The leaked oil was contained and recovered using boom & skimmers.
