134th Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations
The 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar celebrated by Cochin Port Authority today paying tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution at an event organised near Ambedkar Statue in Willingdon Island.
The ceremony was graced by the chief guest Shri Satish Honnakkatte, Deputy Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA). The chief guest led the floral tribute on the statue, followed by the dignitaries and attendees.
The chief guest planted a 'Kani Konna' (Golden Shower tree) sapling as a remembrance & tribute to the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Capt. T. Muthukumar, Deputy Conservator-CoPA, Smt. Padmakumari T., Councillor, Island (North), Port trade union leaders: Shri C.D. Nandakumar, General Secretary, Cochin Port Employees’ Organisation (CPEO) and Shri Thomas Sebastian, Secretary, Cochin Port Staff Association (CPSA), Shri R. Satish, Sr. Dy. Secretary-CoPA, members of the Cochin Port SC/ST Employees Federation spoke on the occasion. Col. Jassar S.M., Chief Engineer-CoPA, Dr. K.I. Muthukoya, Chief Medical Officer (i/c)-CoPA were also present on the dais.
The attendees included Cochin Port employees with their families and other members of the Port community. The event witnessed active participation from all quarters of the port fraternity.
